五雷號令 | The Five Thunders Command 是道教雷法之核心法器，為法師「代天宣號、調遣雷兵」之信物。令牌一舉，象徵號令五方雷神（東方、南方、西方、北方、中央）與雷部將帥聽令行事，以雷霆之力馘邪、破煞、禳災、護壇。此令以雷擊棗木雕琢，木已受天雷，與雷部同氣，號令尤靈。
The Five Thunders Command is the central instrument of Daoist Thunder Rites (Lei Fa) — the priest’s token to proclaim Heaven’s will and dispatch the thunder soldiers. Raised, it symbolizes the command of the Five Directional Thunder Gods and their generals to cut down evil, shatter sha, avert calamity, and guard the altar with the force of thunder. Carved from lightning-struck jujube wood — timber already touched by Heaven’s thunder, of one breath with the Thunder Court — its command rings all the more efficacious.

Q: 五雷令为什么用雷击木制作？ (Why is the Five Thunders Command made from thunder-struck wood?)
• 道教雷法講究「同氣相求」——五雷令號令雷部神將，若以曾受天雷擊中的棗木製成，木身已蘊雷霆之氣，與雷部同頻共振，號令更為靈驗。故雷擊棗木被視為製作五雷令、天師劍等雷法法器的首選聖材，遠勝普通木料。
• Daoist Thunder Rites work on ‘kind calls to kind.’ Because the Five Thunders Command summons the Thunder Court, crafting it from jujube wood that has actually been struck by lightning means the timber already carries Thunder energy, resonating with the Thunder deities so the command is more efficacious. This makes thunder-struck jujube wood the supreme material for Thunder-rite instruments.
Q: 普通人可以供奉五雷号令吗？ (Can an ordinary person keep a Five Thunders Command?)
• 可以供奉，但需知其為道教雷法最高權威法器，能量至剛至猛。善信以恭敬心請回，安放神龕或宅之煞方作鎮宅、護法、辟邪之用即可，日常上香禮拜。惟「行雷法、舉令召將」屬密法，須有師承與戒律，絕不可自行模仿召役。恭敬則感應，褻瀆則招咎。
• Yes, but know that it is the highest-authority, most forceful instrument of Daoist Thunder Rites. A devotee may invite it home with a reverent heart and enshrine it on an altar or at a sha-facing position to guard the home and repel evil, with daily incense. However, actively performing Thunder Rites — raising the command to summon the generals — is an esoteric practice requiring lineage, vows, and training, and must never be imitated. Reverence brings resonance; irreverence invites fault.
